Looking forward to firing up the blogging muscles again! It's been a while since I've blogged regularly, and I really want to get back into it at least on the weekly basis, so everyone can be hearing the stories of the months to come!
It's hard to believe that August has come and gone, summer is winding down, and the winds of fall are blowing in and bringing all sorts of changes with them. I wanted to take a few moments to detail the coming months for all of you who have played such a key role in supporting me in this adventure.
I leave this week for Charlotte, North Carolina to begin learning the finer points of the Urban Eagles ministry. For the next four months, I will be learning and participating in a ministry that is based on living in an area of need, and using a combination of soccer, after school programs, relational connections in the community, and discipleship to embody Christ and better the lives of all those present.
For one week in October, four members of the Eagles (including myself) will return to Cuba to continue the Sports Ministry Training that was started in January. It's clear that coaches can have a profound impact in the lives of youth, and we want to share what we have learned about the power of coaching with beginning coaches in Cuban soccer.
Your prayers for safe travel, quick learning, and a lasting impact are greatly appreciated over the coming months.
Check back regularly to hear stories from various neighborhoods and countries as God continues to change the world through simple people playing a simple game. Relationships change the world, may we do everything possible form relationships that better the lives of others, and point them to the one that created and exemplified the best life.
Peace,
Cody
